Minutes of the AGM 4th June 2024

MINUTES OF LAST MEETING
The minutes of the last Committee Meeting held on 4th February 2024 were noted.

CHAIR’S REPORT
Sue gave an update on the community gardens and the lengthsman scheme. There had been a good response to the two new benches on the park and a request for more. There had been a request for a litter bin by the bus stop on the field opposite Mountsorrell.
Edmund Campion were involved in the maintence of the orchard and an approach was to be made to Abbey Road. One of the schools had been litter picking on the field.
The Book Club was going well with new members joining.
The report was noted.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Ruth gave details of the income and expenditure for the Association.
It was AGREED to note the report.

COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS
Simon Middlecote had indicated that he wished to stand down as Chair. He was thanked for his work as Chair of the Association.
The following appointments to the Committee were agreed for the following year:-
Chair – Sue Andrews
Joint Vice-Chair – Catherine Bailey, Simon Middlecote
Treasurer and Website – Ruth Kerry
Secretary – Chris Holmes
Committee members : Caroline Stone, Sheila Ashton,Tracey Turrill, Jo Mansfield, Helen Hetherington, Joanne McDonald.

PLANS FOR THE COMING YEAR
Benches
It was suggested that another bench be sought to mark the coronation. Suggested location was the bus turning circle. SUE ANDREW to follow up
Summer Gathering
Sunday 21st July 2024 2pm- 4pm was chosen as the date. A sub-committee was set up to make the arrangements comprising Sue Andrew, Sheila Ashton, Jo Mansfield, Catherine Bailey, Tracey Turrill, and Ruth Kerry.
Green Spaces
It was proposed to have a willow woven tunnel by the wooden steps on the field.. It was noted that Rushcliffe’s approval would be needed. A Sub- Group of Ruth Kerry, Sue Andrew and Helen Hetherington was established to take the issue forward.
Wendy King was coordinating the wildflower area on the field this year . Yellow rattle had been planted.


St Luke’s Serving Saturday
On 6th July members of St Luke’s would be undertaking tasks around the estate eg gardening
New Gym Equipment
There was a proposal have some gym equipment installed on the field which would be funded by section 106 money from the new building on the former Depot. A Sub-Group comprising Catherine Bailey, Helen Hetherington, Ruth Kerry, Lorna Tallowin, Jo Mansfield and Sue Andrew was established to take this forward.
Abbey Park 50th Birthday in 2026
2026 would be 50 years since Abbey Park was built. It was planed to create a tapestry mark the occasion. Catherine Bailey and Tracey Turrill were the coordinators of this project. The idea was to run training / supervised sessions to get people involved. The finished tapestry could go on ‘tour’ of the library, Willow Tree Pub, schools and community centre before having a permanent position similar to the notice board.
OPEN FORUM
The lack of access to buses for residents of the community association was raised and it was pointed out that a taxi to central Avenue cost £10 each way. Approaches had been made to Nottingham City Transport to improve access previously without success. Setting up a volunteer driver scheme was suggested.
The pavement on Stamford Road was described as terrible.

The meeting closed at 8.50pm.
